Home > Assignments > Quiet Light

Newborn
Last week, after a night of snow, I went walking near my house. I saw this playground and decided to use light to transform the hut, normally used by children for playing, in some more mysterious and fascinating place.
I therefore placed inside the hut a flash, triggered by wireless transmitters, and underexposed the ambient light by using a short exposure time. Additionally I shot the image with a tilt lens (actually a medium format lens attached to my Canon 40d with a tilt adapter), so that I could blur the trees and also give to the image a feeling of smallness.

This is really great use of speedlight! The tilt/shift does give an added sense of small scale and wonder.
