Piz da la Margna - The guardian of the Engadin valley
|
This image was taken after a workday as a ski instructor and an entertaining evening with friends. As the dedicated driver I dropped my friends off at their hotel and went on to capture the special illumination given by the 3/2 full moon - enough light to light the mountains while not being too bright to see sparkling stars. The location I went first was further on the left. There was too much light from the near village (Sils Maria), motivating me to look for a darker spot. I left Sils and found this location. I put my ski jacket in the snow and put my camera on top to protect it from the snow. It was 1:22 am and about -18 degree Celsius. I was freezing and left after 4 shots of 30s exposure. Only later I saw that the brightness of the monitor had cheated me about my exposure. Fortunately I was able to correct for that in post:
Image was cropped to 16:9, slightly rotated to correct for my missing tripod, exposure was adjusted +2.09, cromatic aberrations where minimized. All post was done in Lightroom.
